How to Rename a Hard Drive on Mac OS

Step 1

Left-Click On Finder, which is in the bottom left-hand corner of your dock. (by default)

The icon looks like this:

Step 2

Go to the top of the menu bar, and look for Go, then left-click on Computer.

A new window will pop-up that looks like this

Step 3

Right-click and select Get info.

A new window will pop-up that will look like

Step 4

Left-Click on the Name & Extension section.

Here the name of the hard drive can be changed. As you can see in the example below I changed mine to Pat’s HD.

Step 5

Close Window and the changes should automatically change right away.
